Can you pre-order GTA 6 yet?
Yes. GTA 6 pre-orders opened on 25 June 2026, about five months before the game's 19 November 2026 launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. You can pre-order through the PlayStation Store, the Microsoft Store, the Rockstar Games Store and the usual retailers.
This GTA 6 pre-order guide sticks to what Rockstar and the platform stores have published: the two editions, what every pre-order gets, when you can pre-load and what a boxed copy actually contains. Where something hasn't been announced, we say so rather than guess.
Which GTA 6 editions are there?
Rockstar sells two editions.
- Standard Edition: the base game. In the US it sells from $79.99.
- Ultimate Edition: the base game plus extra in-game content: vehicles, weapons and clothing. In the US it sells from $99.99.
Both editions contain the same base game; the difference is the bundle of in-game items. If you mostly care about the story and the world, the Standard Edition is the whole game.
Prices differ by country and store, and retailers sometimes discount pre-orders, so check the listing you buy from.
What do you get for pre-ordering GTA 6?
Every pre-order, Standard or Ultimate, includes the Vintage Vice City Pack. It is the only pre-order bonus Rockstar has announced for all buyers. Stores set their own cut-off for it, so if the pack matters to you, check the deadline on your store's listing rather than waiting until launch week.
Some stores add their own extras on top. Those are the store's offer, not Rockstar's, and they vary.
When can you pre-load GTA 6?
Pre-loading opens on 12 November 2026, one week before launch. Pre-loading means downloading the game ahead of time so it is ready to play the moment it unlocks on 19 November. With a game of this size, it is the difference between playing at launch and waiting on a download while everyone else is already in Vice City.
To be ready:
- Free up space on your console before 12 November, and check the download size on your store's listing.
- Make sure automatic downloads are switched on if you won't be at your console that week.
- If you bought a boxed copy, redeem the code as soon as you have it so the pre-load can start.
Is there a GTA 6 disc?
No. The boxed version of GTA 6 contains a download code rather than a disc. Boxed copies go on sale on 12 November, the same day pre-loading opens, so you can redeem the code and download the game before launch.
That changes the usual reasons for buying a physical copy. You can't install from a disc, and you will need the same download and storage space as a digital buyer. What a box still gives you is a code you can buy at a shop or give as a present.
Which consoles can play GTA 6?
GTA 6 launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. There is no PS4 or Xbox One version, and Rockstar has not announced a PC version or date. If you play on PC, our GTA 6 PC release date guide explains what is known and how Rockstar's last games reached PC.
Should you pre-order GTA 6 or wait?
Pre-ordering gets you the Vintage Vice City Pack and lets you pre-load from 12 November. Waiting costs you the bonus but nothing else: the game will be on sale at launch, and nothing announced so far is limited to pre-orders except that pack.
If you are deciding between editions, the honest question is whether you want the Ultimate Edition's in-game items enough to pay the difference. Neither edition plays differently.
