NBA 2K27 VC sources at a glance
Every legit way to earn Virtual Currency in NBA 2K27 falls into one of three groups: games you can play as often as you like, rewards with a fixed ceiling, and one-off grants. The table sorts them by how much they matter over a full year of play, not by how flashy they look in a launch-week video.
| Source | Type | What it gives | Effort | Worth it for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MyCAREER games (Fire & Concrete and beyond) | Uncapped | VC every finished game, plus contract and performance pay | Medium | Everyone, every day |
| City games (Street Kings, The REC, Park, Casual Corner, Proving Grounds) | Uncapped | VC per game, REP and Season XP at the same time | Medium | Players who already enjoy online modes |
| Crew VC bonus | Multiplier | A percentage on top of the VC you already earn, rising with Crew level | Low once your Crew is active | Anyone in a regular Crew |
| REP tier rewards | Capped (40 tiers) | VC drops at set tiers along the REP track | High | City regulars |
| Season Rewards Ladder | Capped per Season (40 levels) | Some VC on the free track; up to 45,000 VC with the Pro Pass | Medium | Players who reach Level 40 each Season |
| Daily Rivals | Capped per day | A show-up reward, more for a top-three finish | Low to high | Daily players |
| Daily login, NBA 2K HQ app, 2KTV | Capped per day | Small VC amounts and items | Very low | Everyone, two minutes a day |
| Locker codes | One-off | VC only when 2K releases a VC code | Very low | Anyone who checks once a week |
| Edition and pre-order VC | One-off | 10,000 VC pre-order bonus, 100,000 VC Deluxe, 135,000 VC Ultra | None | Already decided at purchase |
How VC works in NBA 2K27
VC is NBA 2K27's account-wide currency. The same wallet pays for MyPLAYER attribute upgrades, City cosmetics, animations and MyTEAM items, so every coin spent on a jacket is a coin not spent on your three-point rating.
Three rules shape every decision in this guide:
- VC doesn't carry over between years. Whatever you had left in NBA 2K26 stays there. NBA 2K's VP of product management, Michael O'Dwyer, has said each release is meant to be "a completely fresh start", so treat every new game as a new budget.
- VC can't be transferred. It is tied to the account that earns or buys it. Anyone offering to "send" VC to your account can't do it, and generator sites that ask for your login are phishing for it.
- Builds don't share upgrades. Each MyPLAYER is paid for separately. Rebirth speeds up Badge Tokens and raises the OVR a new build can reach, but a new build still starts at 60 OVR and still has to be upgraded with VC. MyCAREER Eras work the same way: each era is its own save, so its upgrades are paid for again.
That last point is where most players lose the most VC, and we come back to it in the spending section.
The mechanic that matters: capped versus uncapped VC
The single most useful idea for farming VC in NBA 2K27 is this: almost every reward source has a ceiling, and only games themselves don't.
Daily logins pay once a day. Daily Rivals pays once a day. The Season ladder stops at Level 40 and resets when the Season ends. REP tiers pay out once each. Locker codes are one-offs. Once you've collected those, the only thing that turns more time into more VC is playing more full games.
So the efficient routine has two layers:
- Collect every capped reward, because they cost almost nothing per VC earned. Most take a few minutes.
- Spend the rest of your time in whichever mode you win in and enjoy most, because that is the only layer that scales. Ten fast games you enjoy beat five slow ones you dread, and the second layer is where your VC per hour is really decided.
Most "fastest VC method" videos get this backwards. They chase a single exploit that gets patched within a week and skip the dull daily rewards that would have paid out all year.
MyCAREER games: the backbone of your VC income
MyCAREER is the most reliable VC source in NBA 2K27 because it is offline, available every day, and pays every finished game. In NBA 2K27 MyCAREER runs through the Fire & Concrete story and on into your NBA seasons, and you can also start it in any of the MyNBA Eras.
How to get more out of each MyCAREER game:
- Finish the games you start. Only completed games count towards Daily Rivals, and a game you quit doesn't add to your stats, your Season XP or your progress.
- Play to your contract. Your pay comes from your contract and from how well you play, so a strong teammate grade and efficient box score lift every game's payout. The habits that win games, like good shot selection, fewer turnovers and staying in front of your man, are the same habits that grow your VC.
- Pick a game length you'll actually play every day. Longer quarters mean more minutes and more stat opportunities per game, but fewer games per session. The right setting is the one you'll keep up for months, not the one that wins a single afternoon.
- Play co-op if you have a partner. In co-op MyCAREER both players earn their own VC and Season XP, so a regular duo loses nothing by playing together.
- Don't buy story shortcuts with VC. Fire & Concrete's early chapters are where most new players learn their jumpshot timing and finishing, and the chapters pay their own VC and Season XP on the way through.
If you play MyCAREER on more than one era, decide early which save is your main one. Splitting your upgrades across eras is the quickest way to end up with two unfinished players instead of one good one.
The City: Street Kings, The REC and Daily Rivals
City games pay VC per game and feed your REP and Season XP at the same time, which makes them the best value per hour if you already play online. NBA 2K27's City lineup includes The REC, The Theater, Street Kings, Park, Proving Grounds, Ante-Up and Starting 5, plus two new spaces, Crew HQ and Casual Corner. For the first time the City is co-ed, so female MyPLAYERs can play every City mode.
Street Kings
Street Kings is the new 3v3 mode where you and up to two friends take on CPU bosses at The Hollows, Claremont Court and Rucker Park. It runs as a weekly tournament: a play-in round to set your seed, a best-of-five bracket, and a single-elimination championship game to 21. At a random point in any game a legendary boss can pull up and take over the court, which 2K calls a Court Crasher.
For VC, Street Kings has two things going for it. The games are short, and you're playing the CPU, so a good trio wins consistently. Many players rate it among the fastest VC per hour in the game for exactly that reason. Its games also count towards Daily Rivals.
Daily Rivals
Daily Rivals is NBA 2K27's daily leaderboard. Each day you're grouped with 39 other players matched by skill and by how often you play.
- How to enter: complete a MyCAREER game and you're automatically entered on the next day's board. There's nothing to opt into.
- When it resets: at 2:00 AM Pacific Time.
- What it pays: a reward just for showing up, and a Rivals Ticket for finishing in the top three, which unlocks exclusive cosmetics. 2K hasn't published a per-place VC table, so treat any exact prize figure you see online as one player's report.
- How to place well: groups are matched on how often you play, so a top-three finish usually goes to whoever plays the most that day. If you only have an evening session, show up every day for the attendance reward and treat top three as a bonus.
REP rewards
REP has 40 tiers in NBA 2K27, from Rookie through Starter, Veteran and Elite to Legend. 2K says the track pays double the rewards over the same period of time as last year, and several tiers along it include VC. Players report the larger VC payouts in the Veteran and Elite tiers, which is why REP is a long-term VC source rather than a quick one. Look at the rewards screen for your next few tiers before deciding how much City time to plan around them. Our NBA 2K27 MyCAREER guide explains how REP fits alongside OVR and badges.
Your Crew's VC bonus
Crews in NBA 2K27 have their own 40-level progression, with five more levels added each Season from Season 2. According to the Crew reward track, higher Crew levels add a VC bonus on top of what you already earn: 5% at level 8, 10% at level 13, 25% at level 21 and 50% at level 27.
That makes joining an active Crew one of the best long-term VC decisions you can make. A multiplier works on every game you play from then on, while a one-off reward only pays once. Check the Crew reward screen in Crew HQ to confirm your current bonus.
Season rewards and the Pro Pass
Each Season has a 40-level reward track shared between MyCAREER and MyTEAM, so XP from both modes moves you up the same ladder. Progress and rewards reset when the Season ends.
- The free Season Rewards Ladder includes some VC among its rewards.
- The Pro Pass adds up to 40 premium rewards and up to 45,000 VC as you level through the Season, according to 2K's FAQ. It only pays back that VC if you actually reach the higher levels, so it makes sense if you reliably hit Level 40, not if you stall in the twenties.
- The Hall of Fame Pass includes everything in the Pro Pass, plus a 15% XP boost, 10 Level Skips and 15,000 VC added to your account straight away.
The Pro Pass is a reasonable buy for someone who plays most days and finishes the ladder. For an occasional player who stalls halfway, most of that VC is never collected.
Season 2 started on October 16 with a new ladder and its own Pro Pass. Our NBA 2K27 Season 2 guide covers what reset and how to level fast at the start.
Daily login, the NBA 2K HQ app, 2KTV and locker codes
These are the small, capped sources. None of them will fund a build on their own, but together they cost a couple of minutes a day.
- Daily login rewards. Log in each day for a small reward.
- NBA 2K HQ app. The free companion app launched on 21 August 2026 with mobile-only daily login rewards that carry back to your console. It also shows your Daily Rivals standing.
- 2KTV. New episodes include interactive questions with rewards, sometimes including VC.
- Locker codes. In NBA 2K27 you redeem codes in MyTEAM: open the Market, go to Locker Codes, enter the code and submit. Launch week brought several VC codes, from 10,000 to 100,000 VC, but they expired quickly. Most codes since have paid packs rather than VC, so check 2K's official social channels once a week and redeem anything new straight away.
Edition and pre-order VC
The edition you bought is the one VC source you can't change after launch. According to 2K's FAQ, pre-ordering any edition added 10,000 VC, the Deluxe Edition includes 100,000 VC and the Ultra Edition includes 135,000 VC along with the Season 1 Pro Pass. Ultra was only sold until 6 September 2026, and on Nintendo Switch 2 only the Standard Edition is available.
A daily VC routine that actually holds up
A plan you can keep up for months beats a perfect plan you drop after a week. This routine fits an evening session:
- Before you play: claim the console login reward, open the NBA 2K HQ app for its reward, and check for new locker codes and 2KTV episodes.
- First game of the day: a MyCAREER game. It enters you on tomorrow's Daily Rivals board and pays like any other game.
- Main session: your best mode. For most people that is MyCAREER or Street Kings with your regular trio. Play with your Crew whenever you can so the Crew bonus applies.
- Weekly: push the Season ladder towards Level 40, play the Street Kings tournament, and look at the next few REP tiers to see if one is worth a push.
- Each new Season: decide whether you'll realistically reach Level 40 before buying a pass.
Where to spend VC first
Earning VC faster helps less than spending it well. This order is what gets a MyPLAYER to competitive shape on the fewest coins:
- Your build's core attributes. The ratings that unlock your main badges come first: shooting for a shooter, ball handle and speed with ball for a creator, rebounding and interior defense for a big. Upgrade costs climb steeply towards the top ratings, so the last few OVR points are the most expensive.
- Your four to six everyday badges. Badge Tokens equip them, and the attribute thresholds you reached in step one decide which tiers you can use.
- Animations you'll use every game, such as a jumpshot base and release that suit your timing, or a dribble style you rely on.
- Cosmetics last. They feel good and do nothing on the court.
The common VC mistakes are the reverse of that list: starting a second build before the first is finished, spreading upgrades across several MyCAREER Eras, buying cosmetics in the first week, and paying for a Season pass you won't finish. Each one feels small at the time and costs tens of thousands of VC over a year.
When grinding VC isn't worth your time
Upgrading a MyPLAYER from 60 OVR to the high 80s and beyond takes a lot of VC, and most players with jobs or school only have a few sessions a week. If the grind is what's standing between you and the build you want, an NBA 2K27 VC boost earns VC by playing on your own account, in 100K steps, so nothing is transferred from another account. Players who'd rather skip straight to the rating can use an NBA 2K27 OVR boost instead, and a Season Level boost covers the 40-level ladder.
Whichever route you take, the spending order above still applies. VC spent on the wrong attributes is wasted no matter how you earned it.
NBA 2K27 VC FAQ
What is the fastest way to get VC in NBA 2K27?
Collect every capped daily reward, then play full games in the mode you win most in, which for many players is MyCAREER or Street Kings with a regular trio. Join an active Crew for its VC bonus, because a multiplier speeds up every game after it.
Does NBA 2K27 VC carry over from NBA 2K26?
No. VC stays in the game it was earned or bought in, and 2K has said each new release is meant to be a fresh start.
How much VC does the Season Pass give in NBA 2K27?
According to 2K, the Pro Pass gives up to 45,000 VC as you level through a Season, and the Hall of Fame Pass adds another 15,000 VC immediately. Both reset when the Season ends.
Are there locker codes for free VC in NBA 2K27?
Sometimes. Several VC codes from 10,000 to 100,000 VC went out at launch and have since expired. Redeem new codes in MyTEAM under Market, then Locker Codes.
Is VC shared between MyCAREER and MyTEAM?
Yes. VC is one wallet across MyCAREER, MyTEAM and MyNBA. MyTEAM also has its own MyTEAM Points, which are a separate currency.
Is it safe to use a VC generator or buy VC from another account?
No. VC can't be transferred between accounts, so generator sites and "VC transfer" offers are scams, and the ones that ask for your login are trying to steal your account.
